I will start by saying that this company exceeded my expectations. Comms were really good and clear. Richard and his team redone our roof which has never been changed since the house was built in the 50s. The team was always on time from the very first day. Even from the get go on each day the team would arrive and get going straight away. If there is one thing that you need in a team is for it to be like a well oiled machine and this team definitely are.
Richard and his team were very polite. They did a brilliant job and I would highly recommend them.

Rang Richard to ask him to come & quote to fix a roof. A time was arranged to suit me, only a few days ahead. He came at agreed time, got his ladders out and went up on roof even though weather was miserable. Quoted on the spot and the quote was very reasonable, half of what another company had quoted. We accepted the quote and he came and did the work the end of the same week. He even texted me a photo of the work on completion! Apparently the work comes with a 10yr guarantee too. Very pleased and would definitely use Richard again and recommend him to others.

I had a repair job done by this company and I have to say they were excellent. I had called a few companies and no one turned up when they said they would apart from Richard. They explained everything clearly from start to finish and gave me a written quotation detailing this point by point. The quotation was extremely reasonable for the work I needed done. 1st choice were easy to deal with, very articulate, punctual (which is important as I am a working mum), the work was carried out to a very high standard and there was no mess left. I noticed an impressive advert in the local paper relating to 1st Choice Roofing, and made contact by voice mail message which was returned by Richard Hardiman within the hour, with him visiting my property that same day, during which he provided me with a written quotation which I later accepted. When advising Richard Hardiman that I had accepted his quotation, he stated that he would visit my property in order to assess the material requirements prior to undertaking the work; this never happened! On the day in question the 1st Choice roofing team of two men arrived at my property with a van load of rubble, but no materials to do the job. The team enquired whether I had a mobile phone with a camera so that they could sent photographs of the existing tiles on my roof enabling Richard Hardiman to obtain the appropriate tiles; at no stage was I asked for any advice with regards to the tiles on my bungalow roof! The work to be done included the removal of three wet valleys to be replaced by a dry valley system, plus the fitting of eve protectors all around the lower perimeter of my bungalow roof. The team started work but had to wait for the arrival of materials delivered by Richard Hardiman. Later that day I noticed that the team were fitting brown tiles on my roof whose original colour was slate grey, now weathered to a black colouring. I expressed concern and following a lengthy discussion it was agreed that the brown tiles would be fitted to the sides of my bungalow where the change in colour was less conspicuous. Following completion of the one valley I requested that the other valleys be completed in the same manner, with Richard Hardiman declining, making that statement 'that I would not be satisfied and hence he would look to obtain reclaimed tiles of a similar colour to the ones currently on my roof! Although the quotation stated a total figure for the complete job, Richard Hardiman pressurised me into paying him a figure for the one valley completed which was excessive relative to the overall quotation. However I made payment that same day on the assumption that since the whole job had to be completed, the excessive payment was academic. Richard Hardiman indicated that his Company would complete the job the week after next. Having waited for some ten days without any form of contact, I telephoned Richard Hardiman in order to establish the latest status. He said he would 'get on the case' later that day and hoped to complete the job the following week. Having waited a further week without any form of contact from Richard Hardiman, I again telephoned and left a voice mail message asking him to contact me. After waiting a number of days without any form of contact from Richard Hardiman, I emailed him making it very clear I was not happy with the contemptuous manner in which he was treating me. I received an email that same day from Richard Hardiman objecting to the comments contained in my email, whilst advising that he had not managed to obtain any reclaimed tiles, whilst stating that sand faced new tiles were also in short supply. He requested that I source suitable tiles following which he would reimburse me and then complete the outstanding work. I emailed him on the 28th November 2016 advising that I had obtained a quantity of sixty tiles, which as a show of good faith I would pay for; I am still awaiting the courtesy of a reply!. I emailed Richard Hardiman on the 7th December 2016 and am still awaiting the courtesy of a reply! I sent a further email dated the 12 December 2016 and am still awaiting the courtesy of a reply. I sent an email dated the 21 December 2016 making it very clear that I took exception to the disgusting manner in which he had treated me, suggesting that I would contact the various trade associations advising of his behaviour. I received an immediate email from Richard Hardiman stating that due to the tone of my email he would not be returning to my property to complete the outstanding work. In summary he has charged an excessive amount for the one valley his Company completed whilst I am now faced with a large quantity of tiles that I have paid for and are now occupying space on my rear patio. Cannot help but reflect on the company name of '1st Choice Roofing' which based on my experience should be 'Last Choice Roofing' as I have never experienced such appalling behaviour by an individual in my whole life, which now extends into eight decades.
